Centro Hispano - VISTA Recruitment

Dear Community Members,
I am pleased to announce that Centro Hispano de East Tennessee is currently recruiting a VISTA Member to reduce dropout rates increasing the academic performance of students, enrolled in grades K-12, in math and reading and encouraging them to continue their studies. 

Please forward this E-mail to your appropriate contacts and anyone who you feel may be interested in serving.  We are looking to fill this position quickly, and would like to thank you in advance for your assistance in getting the word out.  

VISTA Member for The School Success Program Activities will include: Develop an Educational Success Plan in math and reading for students enrolled in grades K-12; identify Knox County Schools with the highest Hispanic populations and discuss with them the Program; identify students that are behind in math and reading and enroll them in the Program; recruit volunteer tutors and organize trainings, and present a final report with the results and evaluation of the Program. The VISTA Member should be proficient in English and Spanish and have skills in Children and Youth Development.

VISTA stands for Volunteers In Service To America, and the VISTA Program is a lot like the PeaceCorps, but Members serve within the United States at a non-profit organization.  VISTA Members serve as full- time volunteers and focus on building capacity and infrastructure to make a lasting impact for the organization and the community.  Benefits of service include an annual living allowance of $11,106, health benefits, relocation allowance, and the choice between two different post-service awards: an education award of $5,645 or a cash stipend of $1,500 (a full list of benefits is attached to this E-mail).
